Sarah Winn
Biography
Sarah Winn completed her studies as a Scholarship Student at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), obtaining a Postgraduate Certificate and a Master of Music with distinction. Originally hailing from Johannesburg South African, Sarah made her home in Australia for many years, completing her Bachelors degree and Post Graduate Certificate at the Queensland Conservatorium in Brisbane. During her studies, Sarah was awarded the Annie Ridyard Award, the Chris Petty English Song Prize, and the Leverhulme Trust Scholarship, and was a finalist in both the Frederic Cox Prize and The Joyce and Michael Kennedy Award for the Singing of Strauss.
Operatic experience includes The Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Béatrice in Berlioz’s Béatrice et Bénédict, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Older Woman in Dove’s Flight, the Chinese Cup and The Dragonfly in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges, and most recently Julia Bertram in Dove’s Mansfield Park. Along with opera scenes as Jo March in Adamo’s Little Women, Lucretia in The Rape of Lucretia, and Meg Page in Falstaff.
Concert repertoire includes Elgar’s Coronation Ode and The Music Makers (Altrincham Choral Society), Vivaldi’s Gloria (Todmorden Choral Society and Orchestra), Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 (Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra) and Songs of Wayfarer (Manchester Beethoven Orchestra), Mendelssohn’s Walpurgisnacht (York Guildhall Orchestra), Handel’s Messiah (Todmorden Choral Society and Orchestra, Altrincham Choral Society and Orchestra, Brisbane Symphony Orchestra), and Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 (York Guildhall Orchestra).
Sarah joins the National Opera Studio as a Young Artist for 2024/2025.
